My Story

I’ve been where you are — and I know how much the right support can change things. I bought my first veterinary practice one year out of school with a clear vision of what I wanted it to be. What I didn’t have were the leadership skills, business knowledge, self-awareness or support to bring that vision to life.

A few years into ownership, I walked into the clinic one morning and found myself completely alone. One team member had moved away. One was sick. One simply didn’t show up. I was left to manage the front desk, care for patients, handle the cases and keep the clinic running by myself.

I was an excellent veterinarian, but I was a reactive boss. That morning was the catalyst for RealityVet.

The Turning Point

The practice changed because I changed.

That morning did not give me an instant answer. It started a long process of learning. I studied leadership, communication and business. I made mistakes. I had hard conversations. I began to understand how my perfectionism, anxiety and need for control were affecting my team.

I learned to set clearer expectations, communicate more directly and trust other people to do their jobs. We built a culture of greater accountability, trust and pride. Turnover slowed. My team became stronger and more independent. Clients drove hours to see us in rural New Mexico. And I began to love going to work again.

I wish I had learned those lessons sooner. Today, I help women veterinary practice owners learn them with far less struggle — and with someone beside them while they do.

A Perspective Few Consultants Can Offer

Why RealityVet is different.

Experience from the trenches. Perspective from hundreds of practices. I have lived the realities of independent practice ownership. I know what it is like to work too many hours, avoid a difficult conversation, struggle to delegate and wonder whether the practice can function without you.

After selling my practice, I spent 11 years in executive leadership and worked with veterinary teams across more than 1,000 hospitals. That experience gave me a much broader view of the patterns that help practices thrive — and the habits, gaps and decisions that keep owners stuck.

I do not bring a generic system and tell you to fit your practice into it. I help you step back, see what is really happening and decide what will work for your practice, your team, your values and your life.

I have walked this profession from the rural exam room to the corporate ‘systems’. My consulting isn’t based on abstract business theories or generic corporate slogans. It is forged from two distinct perspectives:

I bring that exact combination of hands-on grit and high-level executive logic to your practice. If you are ready to stop managing by crisis and start leading with data-backed confidence, I am ready to show you how.
